It looks a bit daft, but I like it - well, except
for the tacky skull. It's a shame ol' Blackie wasn't
a bit less frugal/unimaginative, and got Giger or
    Stelarc ( http://www.stelarc.va.com.au/ ) to have
    designed it for him.

Stelarc gives fantastic lectures, by the way...

Not in Stelarc's world. If Stelarc had his way (see
website), we'd have our legs augmented with bionic
implants. If you ever get the chance to see films
of his performance art, please do, they're a hoot.

He once pierced his skin with numerous metal hooks
and planned on dangling himself (naked) out of a
forth storey New York window. NY councillors
refused permission, so he did it anyway. It's
great film footage. During lectures, he'll normally
talk over the film with something like: 'I had a
great view of the NYPD cars screeching around the
    corner.'

Edit: Just found a photo of it. Ace!

Not if you believe, like Stelarc, that the human
skin itself is an ineffectual, outdated method of
housing what he believes to be the ineluctable
evolution of the 'organ-isation of the body.'

Scars are irrelevant if the concurrent human skin
    is irrelevant.

Big ideas, I know, but not really if you're able
to get the jist of what he's saying... In laymen's
terms, Stelarc believes that, in order to maintain
the apparent need for us to live longer, we must
evolve by whatever means necessary. In Stelarc's
world, that means by implanting ourselves with
biomechanical technology - i.e., stuff that will
help us crawl towards the post office to bank our
    pension cheques.

It makes sense on paper, albeit theoretically.
One would probably have to attend his University
of Nottingham lectures to find out why, though.

All I can say, is that, I post-produced one of
his filmed lectures once, and I found him to be
hilarious! He's probably the most realistic guy
one could ever meet. He also has the most infectious
    laugh.

His philosophy is magnificent, but far too profound
    for somewhere like this.
